This event is now one of the most popular gatherings of historic ex-
(although it was not held in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid). We will have around 30 narrow boats, dating from the 1900s
through to 1962. Some are restored to their original carrying condition, but others are converted with cabins for living
or holidaying on. The boats will stretch from the main road bridge to the bottom of the flight of locks.
At the canal wharf you will see Saturn, a 1906 Shropshire Union Canal fly boat, which often worked from Audlem, carrying
cheeses and other goods loaded from the canal warehouse (now the Shroppie Fly pub). Fly boats were timetabled
to work round the clock, with horses regularly changed along the route, and crews less frequently!
The event is free to attend. Please do not try to park at the canal wharf, as there is no public parking,
but use the field by the canal bridge, just by the A529 turn to Market Drayton.
If you would like to enter your historic boat, please phone 01270 811059,
or email info@audlemmill.co.uk
