Needlework & Craft Courses
July 2010 sees the start of the 2010 - 2011 programme of regular one and two day courses at Audlem Mill, covering a wide range of needlework and other craft skills.
Unless otherwise stated, they are aimed at beginners with an interest in the particular craft, and you should leave at the end of the course reasonably proficient. You will normally take away with you some finished work that you have created yourself during the course.
In addition, you can take advantage of our course discount - 10% off any of the wide range of products on sale at Audlem Mill on the day*.
Most courses are held on a Saturday or Sunday, but we can arrange mid-week or weekend courses for groups or societies, on request. Courses start at 10.00 and end at 4.00, with regular refreshments, and a break for a good lunch (provided).
What is provided?
Everything you will need to learn the relevant craft, from instructions and guidance notes where appropriate, to the materials such as fabrics and threads - and you can normally take all these away with you. We provide the tools you will need, on loan for the day, but you can generally purchase or order these tools, as well as anything else you want from Audlem Mill, at 10% discount on the day*. You may need to bring some fabric, a sewing machine or a spinning wheel - see individual course details.

Who will run my course?
The courses are organised by Christine Silvester of Audlem Mill, who set up her counted cross stitch business Abacus Designs in the early 1990s (www.abacusdesigns.com). She has a wide knowledge of most needlecraft and related techniques.
However, most courses will be run by associates who specialise in the particular craft. The course tutor will always adopt a hands-on approach, working all day with the group. As course numbers are restricted to about 4-6 depending on subject, this is close to personal tuition.
How much does the course cost?
The fee for one day courses is £50.00 or £55.00, and for two day courses £95.00 to £125.00, depending on subject and the value of materials provided. Please ask for details of local hotels and B&Bs, and we can arrange taxis from railway stations. These extras are, of course, payable direct by you.

Canal Painting (Roses and Castles)
Two day weekend courses on this popular craft are run in Audlem by Jane Marshall and Anne Luard. Please visit their website for more information. (Bookings should be made direct)

ACCESSIBILITY
Courses are held on the first floor of Audlem Mill. This is an historic building, and access is only by stairs, though they are wide and
evenly spaced, with a landing halfway.
