Needlework & Craft Courses

Audlem Mill runs regular one and two day courses from October to April each year, covering a wide range of needlework and other craft skills.

Unless otherwise stated, they are aimed at beginners with an interest in the particular craft, and you should leave at the end of the course reasonably proficient. You will normally take away with you some finished work that you have created yourself during the course. In addition, you can take advantage of our course discount - 10% off any of the wide range of products on sale at Audlem Mill on the day*.

Most courses are held on a Saturday or Sunday, but we can arrange mid-week or weekend courses for groups or societies, on request.  Courses start at 10.00 and end at 4.00, with regular refreshments, and a break for a good lunch (provided).

What is provided?

Everything you will need to learn the relevant craft, from instructions and guidance notes where appropriate, to the materials such as fabrics and threads - and you can normally take all these away with you.  We provide the tools you will need, on loan for the day, but you can generally purchase or order these tools.  You may need to bring some fabric, a sewing machine or a spinning wheel - see individual course details.

Who will run my course?

The courses are organised by Christine Silvester of Audlem Mill, who set up her counted cross stitch business Abacus Designs in 1993 (www.abacusdesigns.com). She has a wide  knowledge of most needlecraft and related techniques.

However, the course tutors are associates who specialise in the particular craft.
The course tutor will always adopt a hands-on approach, working all day with the group.  As course numbers are restricted to about 4-6 depending on subject, this is close to personal tuition.

How much does the course cost?

The fee for one day courses is £60.00, and for two day courses £115.00.  Please ask for details of local hotels and B&Bs; we can arrange taxis from railway stations.
These extras are, of course, payable direct by you.
