Needlework & Craft Courses
Autumn 2008 sees the start of the 2008 - 2009 programme of regular one day courses at Audlem Mill in Cheshire, covering a wide range of needlework and craft skills.
They are aimed at beginners (unless otherwise stated) with an interest in the particular craft, and you should leave at the end of the day reasonably proficient. You will take away with you some finished work that you have created yourself on the day.
In addition, you can take advantage of our course discount - 10% off any of the wide range of products on sale at Audlem Mill on the day.
Courses are generally held on a Saturday or Sunday, but we can arrange mid-week or weekend courses for groups or societies, on request. Courses normally start at 10.00 and end at 4.00, with a lunch break.
What is provided?
Everything you will need to learn the relevant craft, from instructions and guidance notes where appropriate, to the materials such as fabrics and threads — and you can take all these away with you. We provide the tools you will need, on loan for the day, but you can generally purchase or order these tools, as well as anything else you want from Audlem Mill, at 10% discount on the day.
The course fee also includes tea, coffee and soft drinks when required. A buffet lunch is provided.
Who will run my course?
The courses are organised by Christine Silvester, who set up her counted cross stitch business Abacus Designs in the early 1990s (www.abacusdesigns.com). She has a wide knowledge of most needlecraft and related techniques.
However, most courses will be run by associates who specialise in the particular craft. The course tutor will always adopt a hands-on approach, working all day with the group. As course numbers are restricted to about 5-8 depending on subject, this is close to personal tuition.
How much does the course cost?
The fee for one-day courses for 2008 - 2009 is £45.00 (unless shown), including VAT. We can provide details of local hotels and B&Bs, and can arrange taxis from railway stations. These extras are, of course, payable direct by you.
